Driving Etiquette......Cause Your Not A Professional Driver

Much like baseball there are unwritten rules of the road, and before you quote the late great George Carlin from Jay and Silent Bob Strike back, know i am not talking about giving a little to get a few miles down the road. What I am talking about are those individuals who decide that going 40mph while trying to merge onto the freeway is a good idea. Yes we have all had to slow down behind that individual while they are nervously trying to merge. We have all at one point had to deal with that one car which decides that they don't want to use the turn lane and instead want to stop traffic to make a left hand turn. And lets not forget the individual which decided that even though every lane is open tailgating is acceptable method of travel.

Yes, we have all dealt with this type of travel on our roads. Its not acceptable and its time that people realize that we have roadway etiquette which needs to be followed. So even though doing your makeup while driving is a wonderful way to save time, realize that you may cause an accident, or even worse show up to work still looking like a hot mess. No one appreciates that ugliness! Driving is all about choices, and a bad one is that one person karaoke performance you are putting on while you swerve into three different lanes. Lets smarten up driving isn't a joke, even if you believe your the second coming of Jeff Gordon.

So here is my list of Do's and Don'ts of the road
  • Don't Tailgate, Its just not cool
  • Don't try to do your hair, makeup, or change your clothing
  • Don't decide that the turn lane isn't good enough for your car
  • Do drive at the speed limit, its for your own good even though your more comfortable going 20mph under the designated speed.
  • Always allow one car to merge in during rush hour traffic. Your not getting to your destination any faster by not allowing the car next to you merge.
  • If there is construction or a bottle neck situation.......Don't be that Asshole who decide your oo good to follow the everyone else who are merging.

The Hard World Of Dating

The older I get the more I realize that trying to date gets harder. Because of this there are a few different issues with dating I have at the moment, I am stuck at an awkward age of 32 where I'm getting to old for anyone under 24. However trying to find someone who is over 25 not in a relationship and not damaged is almost impossible. Even when I do find that one person who is "a find" then add the difficulties of trying to hold a mature conversation but at the same time keep it light and interesting. Dating is hard and its becoming more and more difficult. Maybe the issue is social media, maybe the issue is with how people are being raised or maybe its Dating Websites.

My friends keep giving the suggestion to try dating websites, which I had refused for the longest time. I've given up on that fight and took my their advice, lets just say dating websites are worse than trying to meet someone at the bar. Seeing sites like Match.com and phone Apps likes Tinder have left me disillusioned, leaving me with the idea that all which that matters with women is Looks, Ethnicity, and Money. I am not saying being attractive isn't important, it is. You have to have some sort of attraction to the person you talking to, but at the same time the wonders of getting to know someone and who they are deep down inside truly does change one's perspective of attraction. I've also have had the personal experience from the ethnicity standpoint, I am half white and half middle eastern. For me its just my background and heritage, but for others its like I am a diseased infested individual that has to be locked away and never seen again. The world of dating can be a cold, cold world.

Even if you don't use a dating website, trying to talk with someone can be difficult. I am not smooth, I don't play games. I am just me and that seems to be a problem sometime. Its not that you should play games or be a smooth talker to get someone's interest. But you need confidence, I am currently trying to talk with someone I have met and I must say this is where i am lacking. While I am having a conversation i am finding it hard to transition, from creating interesting topic to keep a conversation going. Maybe some of it is I am to shy to call and everything is over text messaging. But I think I don't have confidence that she will be into what i have to bring to the table. So I am stuck, trying to get out of my own way, trying not to be the cause but trying to be a solution to my own problems.

Now obviously we all know that being in a relationship is rewarding in many different ways, and once you start talking, meeting each other, and hanging out dating is fun leaving everyone with the giddy feeling deep down inside. So this post isn't to trash dating, it's just a reference to what I see and what i am experiencing at the moment. So yes, dating can be frustrating and as we get older it gets harder. Maybe its not just me and maybe its society in general today. But in the end, would you have gone back and stop dating when you still can find that truly special someone? I am guessing not.

Until my next post, lets keep it light, lets pray for the lost lives in France, and let's give one special Boo-Yah for Stuart Scott.

Stuart Scott 1965 - 2015

Today the world lost a one of a kind performer, a man that inspired, and a man that taught us what a true fighter looks like. Today Stuart Scott lost his 7 year battle against cancer but showed the world what living is all about.

Stuart Scott the broadcaster probably doesn’t come close to Stuart Scott the man. But for us who only had the privilege of seeing him through Sports Center and the other ESPN shows, he was a gift. He was the reason that I would wake up early in high school to watch sports center. He made watching highlight clips fun and enjoyable even for the worse of sports using catchphrases like “Boo-Yah” and “Cooler than the other side of the pillow”. He is the reason today that I have a difficult time watching ESPN without him on the air. And If you judged a person from all the people they touched and inspired, then we can all say that Stuart Scott was one of the greats. Yes we all were spoiled.

Finally I leave you with this

“When you die, that does not mean you lose to cancer, You beat cancer by how you live, why you live and in the manner in which you live. So live, live, fight like hell. And when you get too tired, [lie] down, rest and let someone else fight for you.” - Stuart Scott

2015 It's A New Year

Welcome to 2015, the beginning of a new year.

Its time to start our New Year's Resolutions, make plans and goals for what we want out of life. Honestly I am a sucker for the spirit of the new year, I get excited about what may come and putting behind anything bad. So if you were hoping to read something negative about how stupid resolutions are, well you came to the wrong blog.

Best part about being alive during this aged is the ability no matter how small, to provide hope, meaning, excitement, and encouragement with something as stupid as a blog. I would never poke fun at someone that sets a goal for themselves to loose weight. Good for them, I hope this is the year that you succeed with your goals.

I know for myself, I need to workout, eat healthier, I really need to work on just living a happier life. I might fail at these, I might succeed only with one. But I would never want someone making light of my effort.

The most important resolutions we all can make is to be better people for everyone around us. To help out and encourage when someone is down. Step up and be the leaders that we all want to be.

Until My Next Post....I hope you are having a great New Year. Start it off right!

Transformers...Everyones Dirty Little Secret

Transformers the most disappointing franchise ever? Well if you go by everyones opinion you would think so. Most people would say they disliked every Transformers movie since the first one, there is a dislike for Michael Bay due to his use of camera angles and explosions......oh and lets not forget his use of pop music for the Michael Bay Action Shot, yes that is a thing google it.

The truth is a little more complicated, The franchise has grossed closed to $1,325,037,329 domestically while a whopping $3,763,100,000 worldwide, The top grossing film of the franchise was Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen at $402,111,870. While there was a drop off for the most recent outing Transformers: Aged of Extinction at $245,439,076, this  still was an amazing amount grossed for a franchise most considered disappointing. So what is the truth?

Yes, Transformers has not lived up to expectations and maybe people keep being fooled with the expectations of improvement. But I think the truth lies more with the idea that this franchise is a dirty little secret for everyone. The movies are good enough to keep people coming, as the box office keeps telling. Michael Bay knows how to sell his movies with nostalgia, explosions and humor. And while everyone makes fun of the Michael Bay actions shot, its still a staple that we all remember from our favorite movies. (Just see for yourself from this Youtube Video)

So while we all like to hate, maybe its time to come out and admit our like for a franchise we keep trying to sell as horrible. I know for myself, I've seen everyone in theaters and have bought every movie on DVD or BlueRay.

I will get all of us started. I might be in the minority that will admit that the first movie was great, I will also admit that the franchise lost a lot of its luster after that. (In my opinion the last movie was the second best). So lets finally hear your support for these movies, cause I know you have.

Until my next post let me know what your Dirty Little Secret is on Twitter @RandomGuysView

No Burn Day

Like the previous holidays the past few years, Phoenix has opted to enforce a "No Burn Day" This year. Can I just say this is a joke, we should be able to sit around a fire pit or fireplace and enjoy our Holiday with friends and family. I don't see a reduction in city vehicles being driven, so why is it that a fireplace burning is any worse? With the reduction of travel on christmas alone, this should counter act any "burning" that would take place. Sending out inspectors to catch anyone burning seems like a waste of city funds, having them drive block after block seems like a unnecessary way to pollute the air. This needs to stop.

Fireplaces and Fire pits are ways for families to bound, they are ways to enhance the holiday spirit, and are ways to make each holiday special for children. I know personally growing up, my brother and i would hang around the fireplace while playing with our new gifts enjoying the warmth of the flames on a cold December day. Our Fire pit was used by our parents and grandparents to converse on the events of the morning. These were staples of our family and many more which have now been taken away.

I want our ability to enjoy a fireplace in December back, we need this now more than ever.

Until my next post, enjoy this Holiday Season with your love ones

My Christmas Message To Your Employer

It's almost Christmas and the important questions need to be asked......Why do we work the two weeks of Christmas and New Years? Most companies experience a slow down between these two holidays, mainly due to the low attendance of employees. With less people there is less work to be completed, when there is less work to be completed then the people who do work end up screwing off in the office. We all know this to be true, we either experience or have participated in this practice. We don't care about what is going on at work, we are thinking about the Christmas shopping, cooking for our families, the gifts we are getting, and at what point on New Years Eve we will drunkenly try to kiss that hot chick we have had your eye on since last year. We are not thinking about TPS reports, Income Analysis, or Home loans. We are strategically planning where we are placing that miso toe for the best positive outcome.

So this is my holiday message to our employers.......Stop with the insanity, stop pretending that we are accomplishing anything these two weeks, stop with the two hour releases on Christmas Eve. WE DON'T CARE. We want to be home, enjoying some Bing Crosby and Eggnog. Stop being the Grinch trying to steal christmas and let that heart of yours grow two sizes and give us two weeks off. Its for your best interest as much as ours.

Until My Next Post Merry Christmas.
